You read that correctly. Bob’s Burgers didn’t get its first Halloween episode until season three.

It’s a shame, but they come out hitting the ground running. In this episode, The Belcher kids introduce the world to their excellently creative pun Halloween costumes as they make their way to the affluent Kingshead Island in search of, what else…full sized candy bars. But the title has a double meaning if you pay close enough attention.

Meanwhile, Bob and Linda attend a Halloween party thrown by Teddy where Bob may or may not be accidentally responsible for the death of Teddy’s precious pet guinea pig, Frances.

She’s gonna help rescue them and not leave them stranded in the fort in the alley, right? Right? RIGHT?!

Hopeless romantic and slightly boy-crazy Tina Belcher begins a whirlwind romance with the ghost of a 13-year-old boy named Jeff who the Belchers have supposedly trapped in a shoebox after he haunted the restaurant.

This might sound unbelievable to you, but the gang over at Wagstaff totally believes Jeff is real, to the point where Tammy, Tina’s rival, steals Tina’s new love interest away from her.

Meanwhile, due to the rumors about Bob’s Burgers being haunted, two ghost hunters invade the restaurant in order to try to capture evidence of paranormal activity, overstaying their welcome in the process.

Louise Belcher cannot be scared. She really wants to be, but the sad truth is none of the old Halloween tricks do it for her. They never have.

So Bob and Linda make it their personal mission to see to it that their daughter gets what she’s always dreamed of: a truly legitimate Halloween-time scare. They go all out in creating what they believe to be a seriously frightening haunted house.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t really do the trick for Louise. That is, not until actual spooky things begin to happen to the family as a whole and they suddenly find themselves living out a real live horror movie.

So Tina turns to probably the one adult at Wagstaff she should not be going to for advice, librarian Mr. Ambrose. He leads her to books on witchcraft, which Tina then uses to her advantage. But if you know Tina, you know she doesn’t exactly have the conscience for doing things unfairly.

Meanwhile, Bob keeps putting his beautiful jack-o’-lanterns in the front of the restaurant for decoration, only to have them swiped by an unknown culprit whenever he isn’t paying attention.

Season 8, Episode 3: “The Wolf of Wharf Street”

A wolf is terrorizing the town and Linda Belcher is here to prove that she is still a fun Halloween mom by taking the kids out to try and get a picture of it. Although, pretty sure getting lost in the woods with a rabid wolf running wild is exactly what she had in mind.

Meanwhile, Bob is at home and all hopped on pain meds with a broken leg and only Teddy dressed as a nurse to take care of him. Is Teddy secretly the werewolf that has been terrorizing the town or is it just Bob’s heavily medicated mind playing tricks on him?

Meanwhile, Teddy is questioning his handyman skills when Glenn, a rival handyman, is hired to decorate the store next to Bob’s Burgers for Halloween.

Meanwhile, Linda is determined to remove the giant ball of ear wax that has amassed in Bob’s ear.

Season 13, Episode 6: “Apple Gore-chard! (But Not Gory)”

It’s Halloween and Louise is on a class field trip to an apple orchard with Bob as a chaperone. In an effort to prove how easily it is to be a popular kid at her age, she becomes the hero of the harvest. Normally this would be right up her alley, but then she discovers a painting that outlines a tragic fate of the hero.

Meanwhile, Tina and Gene have high hopes about winning Wagstaff’s school costume parade with their Halloween costume themed to the 1996 epic disaster film “Twister,” except the costumes keep falling apart.

Honorable Mention: Season 14, Episode 9: “Fraud of the Dead: Zombie-docu-pocalypse”

Technically, due to the writers and actors strikes, season 14 didn’t have an actually Halloween episode. HOWEVER, we have officially decided to christen this episode the unofficial Halloween episode of season 14.

Basically, the kids decide to shoot their own found footage style zombie apocalypse film with so many of all of our Ocean Avenue and Wagstaff favorites joining in on the fun. It’s a bit different, but a perfect episode and definitely fits in quite nicely with the rest of the Halloween episodes in this guide.

Season 15, Episode 4: “For Whom the Doll Toes”

When the Belcher kids discover that substitute teacher Miss Bisselbender (voiced by Tina Fey) works at a weird dollhouse store, Louise decides to put on an entire murder mystery using the dolls. There’s a reason behind Louise’s madness, which the family eventually learns.

Meanwhile, Teddy once again has his routine shaken up when The Belchers have unexpectedly, and without notice, closed Bob’s Burgers. So Bob leaves a note for Teddy to pass time with his latest obsession, his hand grip exerciser, and they’ll be back before he knows it. Teddy takes this as a challenge and unfortunately over-grips his hands so they can’t even close. Naturally, panic ensues.
